Detection of Polymeric IgA Nephropathy Determined Yasuhiko in by Sera from Patients with IgA Thin - Layer Gel Filtration

چکیده
PolTmeric IgA in sera was determined by thin-layer gel filtration in patients with IgA ncphropathy, other glomerular diseases, IgA myeloma and healthy adults to determine whethcr serum IgA is composed of a monomcric and/or larger pelymers in these patients. The levels of IgA in sera were also quantitated by laser nephelometer in these patients. Eleven patients with IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease), six paticnts with other glomerular diseases, three patients with IgA myeloma and four healthy adults were examined, It was shown that the polymerized IgA in sera from patients with IgA nephropathy was significantly higher than that in sera from patients with other glomerular diseases and healthy adults, Levels of IgA in sera from patients with IgA nephropathy are significantly higher than that in sera from patients with other glomerular diseases and health7 adults. These findings suggest that an increase in serum IgA from patients with IgA nephropathy Jnay be rnainly due to an increase in polymers rather than the monomer of IgA.

An increased polymeric IgA level is not a prognostic marker for progressive IgA nephropathy.
BACKGROUND Elution of IgA from renal biopsies of patients with primary IgA nephropathy (IgAN) has suggested that mesangial IgA deposits are mainly multimeric in nature. This macromolecular IgA consists of dimeric and polymeric IgA and may be derived from the circulation. In children with IgAN, circulating macromolecular IgA levels correlate with bouts of macroscopic haematuria, but in adults a ...
متن کاملClinical, Histopathological and Immunofluorescent Findings of IgA Nephropathy
Background: IgA nephropathy, a prevalent disease in Asia, is considered the main cause of end stage renal disease among primary glomerular disease. Objective: To determine the frequency of different clinical, histopathological and immunofluorescent characteristics of IgA nephropathy. Methods: Renal biopsies of 376 patients were received for immunofluorescent and for histopathological studies. B...
متن کاملDetection of Rheumatoid Factors in Sera and Biopsy Lesions of Vitiligo Patients
Background: Vitiligo is a dermatological disorder of unknown etiology with a common incidence in southern Iran. Presence of autoantibodies to melanocyte antigens suggested an autoimmune basis of the disease. Objective: In this study, the presence of rheumatoid factor (RF) in sera and skin biopsies of vitiligo patients was investigated. Methods: The presence of RF in sera of 35 vitiligo and 32 n...
متن کاملMolecular weights of IgA-circulating immune complexes (CIC) in patients with IgA nephropathy: application of HPLC and solid-phase anti-C3 Facb EIA.
The detection of molecular weights of IgA-circulating immune complexes (CIC) in sera is described. Measurement of IgA-, IgG- and IgM-CIC in sera was also performed. Serum samples were obtained from nine patients with IgA nephropathy, nine patients with chronic proliferative glomerulonephritis without IgA deposits (PGN) and 19 healthy adults. Serum samples of these patients were subjected to hig...

During a 14-month period (Dec. 1990-Jan. 1992) , renal biopsies were performed on 105 patients with suspected glomerular disease. All specimens were processed for light microscopy (L.M) and immunoflourescence. Work-up revealed 21 patients to suffer a systemic glomerular disease and glomerular disease was found to be primery in 85 cases. Predominant IgG deposition was noted in 71 cases with prim...
